Georgia Tech, UGA’s baseball seedings set ahead of NCAA Tournament
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Georgia Tech and Georgia baseball learned their NCAA Tournament fates on Monday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets were named the No. 2 seed, and Mac Nease Baseball Park will host a regional for the first time since 2019. The Bulldogs, following their 46-12 season, will be the No. 3 national seed and host a regional in Athens beginning Friday, when they will play Long Island (30-20) at 7 p.m.

Georgia Tech (48-9) will play noon Friday against Illinois-Chicago (27-27-1). The Citadel (35-24) and Oklahoma (32-21) are also playing in the Atlanta Regional and will face off at 5 p.m. Friday.
Georgia Tech, which swept the Atlantic Coast Conference championships, features the nation’s most prodigious offense. The Yellow Jackets lead Division I in scoring (10.8 runs per game), batting average (.358) and slugging (.636). Jarren Advincula is batting .431 to rank second nationally and Vahn Lackey is sixth at .410.

UCLA was named the No. 1 seed. Following Georgia Tech and Georgia at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively, are the Auburn Tigers (38-19), North Carolina Tar Heels (45-11-1), Texas Longhorns (40-13), Alabama Crimson Tide (37-19) and Florida Gators (39-19).
The top eight national seeds, if they win their regional, are guaranteed to host a super regional.
The remaining seeds
Seeds No. 9 through No. 16 are Southern Miss Golden Eagles (44-15), Florida State Seminoles (38-17), Oregon Ducks (40-16), Texas A&M Aggies (39-14), Nebraska Cornhuskers (42-15), Mississippi State Bulldogs (40-17), Kansas Jayhawks (42-16) and West Virginia Mountaineers (39-14).
The LSU Tigers, the 2025 national champion, became the seventh program to win the title and fail to make a regional the following season since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1999. The others were Ole Miss Rebels (2022 title), Mississippi State Bulldogs (2021), Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (2016), UCLA Bruins (2013), Arizona Wildcats (2012) and Oregon State Beavers (2007).
The tournament opens Friday with 16 double-elimination regionals. Winners advance to eight best-of-three super regionals, with those winners moving on to the College World Series in Omaha beginning June 12.
