EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Georgia Artificial Intelligence Manufacturer brought their mobile 52-foot-long, AI studio to an Effingham College and Careers fair Friday.

Georgia AIM’s goal is exposing high school students to the new opportunity AI brings to the work force.

“AI is sort of like it’s the next new thing,” said Charles F. Easley Jr., Professor at Savannah State University. " It’s not the end thing."

Students were able to be hands on with the 1.5 million dollars worth of AI equipment and see how its incorporated into manufacturing careers.

Effingham students were shown roles like robotic arm operator, technicians, and an AI designer.

“There are job opportunities that go across the gambit. You don’t have to go to college to be involved with artificial intelligence, particularly in manufacturing,” said Stephen Hunt.

The bus had 3-D printing machines, ARVR equipment, robotic arms, and much more.

“If you can see the look on their faces when they take off the VR screen and they have had a chance to do some things in 3D or when they see something molded out of 3D printing, you can see the light bulbs go off and they want to learn more about it,” said Easley Jr. “They want to do it and that’s what we want.”

The Georgia AIM team said AI is not taking jobs away but bringing in more. They say the future in the manufacturing industry is Artificial Intelligence.
