Funeral procession honors GBI Special Agent Tracy Sands

CLAXTON, Ga. (WTOC) - Tuesday, many in our area mourned the loss of GBI Special Agent Tracy Sands.

He’s remembered by the community for his dedication to law enforcement.

WTOC was at his precession where the community said their goodbye.

People lined the streets outside of the Evans County courthouse to show their respects for GBI Special Agent Tracy Sands.

One woman told us this was an act of love.

The Savannah native spent most of his life in Glennville.

His colleagues and friends from his three-decade long career in law enforcement came from all over the Coastal Empire.

Danielle Rowan says she knew his family.

She says showing up for others is nothing new to the Evans County community.

“It always makes me feel great. Our community always comes together when something like this happens,” said Rowan.

The GBI says Agent Sands’ commitment to the badge and the citizens of Georgia will never be forgotten.

Law enforcement agencies from all over our area came to support him before his family and loved ones laid his body to rest.
