Four-week railroad maintenance project to impact Springfield commuters
SPRINGFIELD, Ga. (WTOC) - Effingham County officials posted that CSX Transportation announced a railroad track maintenance project that will end on or around December 12.
They said the work started in Hampton County, South Carolina, and is moving south towards Effingham and Chatham counties.
“Crossings will be closed anywhere from 2-5 days, depending on the type of maintenance they are set to receive,” they wrote.
The affected Effingham County crossings and work start dates, controlled by CSX, according to Effingham Co., are:
- Reedsville Road
- On/around Nov. 20
- Marion Avenue
- On/around Nov. 24
- Fair Street
- On/around Nov. 24
- Exley Spur
- On/around Nov. 25
- Indigo Rd.
- On/around Nov. 26
- Stillwell Clyo Road
- On/around Dec. 1
- Ebenezer Rd.
- On/around Dec 2
They said that crossings will not be closed for the entire duration of the project, only closed for the number of days above.
“Keep in mind the estimated closure time frames are CSX’s best approximation. These dates are subject to change with or without notice due to many of the unforeseen circumstances that can occur in the field once the work begins.”
