Four Savannah schools earn top state honors for academic performance and growth
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Four schools in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System have been recognized by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement with 2025 Single Statewide Accountability Awards.
The awards highlight schools for either high academic performance or significant academic growth, based on the latest College and Career Ready Performance Index, or CCRPI, scores.
Three schools — Woodville-Tompkins Technical and Career High School, Garden City Elementary School and Alfred Ely Beach High School — were recognized in the Greatest Gains category. Savannah Arts Academy earned recognition in the Highest Performing category.
Woodville-Tompkins received a Platinum-level award for the second year in a row. Garden City Elementary earned Silver-level recognition, while Beach High was awarded Bronze for its growth.
Savannah Arts Academy received a Bronze-level award for high academic performance.
State officials say the awards are based on a three-year average of CCRPI scores, measuring either student progress or content mastery, depending on the category.
“These awards are not handed out generously,” said Dr. MJ Kim with the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement. “They go to schools that have genuinely earned them because growth requires intentional instruction, consistent effort and a belief that every student is capable of more.”
Leaders say the recognition highlights the continued progress and dedication of both students and educators across the district.
