First Alert Weather Tropical Forecast: Continuing to track Tropical Storm Imelda and Humberto
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - We’re still tracking major Hurricane Humberto moving NW around 10 MPH. This storm is still expected to weaken as it tracks closer to Bermuda through Tuesday afternoon. Then, it should head into the northern Atlantic and continue to decrease intensity throughout the 2nd half of the week.
Meanwhile, we’re also tracking Tropical Storm Imelda. This storm should continue to slowly push north parallel to the Florida coast over the next few days. Then, make a sharp right turn by Tuesday morning. As that happens, it is expected to strengthen to a Category 1 storm as it heads east towards Bermuda.
We’re not expecting Imelda to actually making landfall in or near the area. However, it will bring higher surf, gusty winds, and much higher rain chances to the area throughout the next few days.
We’ll look for the high flooding concerns in areas directly along the coastline.
This is all based off the current track, which can still change.
Be sure to stay updated on the latest forecast as these systems continue to develop.
For the rest of your Sunday night, we’ll look for more isolated rain chances as temps cool into the mid to lower 70s by midnight. Throughout the overnight and into tomorrow morning, we’ll continue to track more scattered rain chances pushing in from off the coast. Meanwhile, we’ll look for starting temps in the upper-60s to mid-70s across the area.
Throughout the day, we’ll continue look for more sporadic showers and thunderstorms push across the area as high temps warm into the upper-70s to lower-80s for most. Meanwhile, we’ll also look for gusty winds between 20 to 25 MPH across the area. These will be worse along the coast, where we also have High Rip Current and Small Craft Advisories in place throughout the week. The good news is we’re not expecting to see any severe weather. However, we’re watching for coastal areas to have the highest chance to see some flooding concerns in the coming days.
As Tropical Storm Imelda will continue having this effect on our coast throughout the first half of the work week. This will make the overall trend of the week to be cooler temps and less rain chances until next weekend as long as the current tropical track holds up. However, since the current forecast has the storms farther away from the area.
We have decided to cancel Monday & Tuesday’s First Alert Weather Day conditions.
