Director of the Coastal Health District discusses hurricane registries

by Dawn Baker

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - As we move deeper into hurricane season, Dr. Bonzo Reddick, the director of the Coastal Health District, joined WTOC’s Dawn Baker for Welcome to our Community.

He explained what you need to know to join hurricane registries.

One of the registries is for people with disabilities.

The other- for people who have chronic conditions where they couldn’t survive without electricity.

Signing up for one of the registries will guarantee you transportation to a safe location if there is an evacuation order because of a hurricane.

You can learn more about the registries, here.

Reddick also talked about COVID-19. He said although COVID-19 is at its lowest level since the pandemic started, people are still dying from it.

Reddick also shared important immunization information for parents with school age children.
