Deputies: Man in US illegally found with 30+ pounds of marijuana in Sumter County

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - Authorities said a man in the country illegally is charged in the Midlands after being found with over 30 pounds of marijuana.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said 59-year-old Eyian V. Robotham, of Rosedale, N.Y., was arrested on July 17 and charged with trafficking marijuana.

The sheriff’s office said Robotham was seen speeding in the area of Highway 341, leading to a traffic stop. A K-9 was later called to the stop and alerted to the presence of possible narcotics.

SCSO said a search of the vehicle resulted in 36 pounds of marijuana being seized.

Authorities said a man reportedly in the country illegally is charged in the Midlands after being found with over 30 pounds of marijuana.

Authorities also reportedly discovered Robotham, who is originally from Jamaica, was in the country illegally.

He’s currently being held at the Sumter County Detention Center and is also being detained for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
