Dave Turley’s First Alert Weather forecast for Thursday, January 29, 2026
High pressure will continue to influence our weather the rest of the week. Temps remain well below average. We’ll see a few more clouds later today but a cold front will stall just to our north into Friday. Our warmest day will be Friday with highs near 60. Colder air arrives for the weekend. Lots of clouds Saturday with highs only in the low 40s early but quickly falling throughout the afternoon. Saturday is a First Alert WX Day! A Winter Storm Watch is in effect Saturday morning through Sunday afternoon for Hampton, Jasper, Beaufort, Screven, Candler, Bulloch and Effingham counties. Our forecast will depend on exactly where low pressure develops off the southeast coast Saturday. The low is forecast to move quickly away from the area Sunday. It’s looking more likely that rain will change to snow Saturday afternoon and evening. Most computer models still keep the best chance north of I16. Little to no accumulation expected at this time. Sunday and Monday are also First Alert WX Days due to very cold air! Even though the moisture is gone our temps will be well below freezing som there could be a few slick spots Sunday morning. Morning lows both days will be in the upper teens to low 20s. Wind chills will drop to the single digits Sunday thanks to wind gusts up to 25mph. We’re still cold Tuesday morning with temps in the mid 20s but afternoon highs warm back into the mid 50s. A cold front bring our next rain chance Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
