City crews respond to minor sewage spill on GA-25 Connector
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - City of Savannah staff says they responded to a minor sewage spill at Thursday afternoon on the GA-25 Connector.
According to city officials, the spill resulted from an air release valve (ARV) failure in a sanitary sewer force main.
An estimated 7,000 gallons spilled before it was mitigated. The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) guidelines classify this as a minor spill, which is a spill under 10,000 gallons.
The force main system was set to an operating condition to stop the spill.
Repairs to the air release valve were ongoing at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23 and expected to be completed by 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct 24.
