Chatham County Sheriff’s Office showcases drug, money, and gun seizures
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - “We’re not going to be a sit-back sheriff’s office. We are out in the community every day. We are out in the community making you safe. We want you to know that you’re okay and that we are here for you.”
Friday, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office announced the seizure of multiple guns and drugs by the CID Investigation Team and area partners. You can watch the full showcasing of evidence here.

Sheriff Richard Coleman said he’s proud of the efforts of his investigators to get drugs and weapons off the streets & out of the hands of the wrong people.
Five pounds of marijuana, a large sum of cash, and machine guns are just some of what is off the streets, Sheriff Coleman says.
“You have your original marijuana that’s been upgraded throughout the years with chemical additives and all the transitions of THC throughout the years. Most importantly, now is your marijuana vapes, which are basically electronic cigarettes that have THC in them for the purpose of getting high like you would smoking marijuana,” said Captain Gene Harley with the Sheriff’s Office.

"These are very much common with our youth, our children, our young teenagers... which makes it even more dangerous because we now live in a society where people see people smoking what they think are vapes, electronic cigarettes, when in all actuality, they are ingesting THC or some form of controlled substance,” said Captain Harley.
Over $36,000 in cash was seized. The sheriff’s office says, with most drug sales and distribution-- comes firearms and protection.
The operation involved the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and Bloomingdale Police.

One arrest was made as part of this investigation. The sheriff said they expect more arrests to be made in the case.
“We said that we would make every effort to make Chatham County a safe community every day. I want you to know that the sheriff’s office is in this fight with you. We’re here for you. We’re here to stand beside you. We want our kids to be safe. We want our community to be safe. We want a safe Chatham County, as you can see. As long as they’re bad guys and undesirables in our communities, we are not going anywhere,” said
“We possibly prevented our next murder. This amount of drugs could have been sold and distributed all over Chatham County--- but it’s in a safe place today,” said Sheriff Coleman.

Sheriff Coleman is asking locals if they see something, to say something.
“To make a safer community, make a safer Chatham County, a better Chatham County is together, and together we can,” said Sheriff Coleman.
