3rd ID bids farewell to Command Sergeant Major Jonathan Reffeor in special ceremony
FORT STEWART, Ga. (WTOC) - The 3rd Infantry Division said farewell to Command Sergeant Major Jonathan Reffeor in a special ceremony on Fort Stewart.
Friday’s event signals the end of his assignment with the third ID.
He will now move on to serve at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.
The senior advisor says he spent nearly eight years at Fort Stewart, and that he served as a leader during a time of reshaping and modernization.
Refferor says he won’t forget the support he’s received from the surrounding communities and he will always be proud to be a dogface soldier.
“Legacy is a chapter and I had the opportunity to be apart of that chapter,” said Command Sergaent Major Reffeor. “It’s just amazing to be a dogface solider. Legacy is so rich with history... it has the most medal of honor winners. It’s just calling yourself a dogface solider is just special.”
The unit’s new leader, Command Sergeant Major Donald Durgin, will arrive in September to take command the third ID.
