2 people arrested after 14-year-old female fatally shot in Brunswick
BRUNSWICK, Ga. (WTOC) - Two people have been arrested after a 14-year-old girl was fatally shot.
According to the Brunswick Police Department, officers responded to the 2700 block of Altama Avenue around 8 p.m. Saturday, in reference to a gunshot wound. During the investigation, it was determined that the victim, a 14-year-old female, was shot by an acquaintance inside the residence.
Preliminary investigation revealed 17-year-old Daquarius Wallace, of Brunswick, was mishandling a firearm when the victim was shot. Wallace was arrested and charged with murder 2nd degree, cruelty to children 2nd degree, possession of a firearm by a person under 18 and reckless conduct.
21-year-old Bobby Sullivan, of Brunswick, was also arrested and charged with cruelty to children 2nd degree, theft by receiving a stolen property, reckless conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Both are in custody of the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office.
The name of the victim is being held pending notification of next of kin.
An autopsy will be conducted by the Medical Examiner’s Office of Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
