‘Meta pros’ talk about their duties at Hyundai megasite

BRYAN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - We continued our visit to the Hyundai Metaplant in Bryan County. We talked to some of the employees called “meta pros.”

Unice Youmans, Charlene Toole, Jared Weston and Justin Steiner joined WTOC’s Dawn Baker to talk more about what they do.

Youmans works on the meta finish line. She explains how she pulls any vehicles that have defects like dents, scratches, etc. She took an eight week class at Savannah Tech to get prepared for the job.

Charlene Toole works in the control room. When something isn’t working properly, she logs that into the computer. Jared Weston is a process engineer in the weld shop and Justin Steiner is a team leader on the body complete line.

HMGMA builds the IONIQ 5 and 9. Eventually, they also produce models for Kia and Genesis, which are part of the HMG family.

The megasite consists of the Metaplant, LG Battery Joint Venture (known as HLA Greenpower) and five affiliates including Hyundai Mobis, Hyundai Glovis, Hyundai Transys, Hyundai Steel and Hyundai Material.
