WTOC Top Teacher: Danit Wright

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - From silly ears to reading cheers, a Butler Elementary School kindergarten teacher is making learning fun.

Meet this week’s Top Teacher

Danit Wright teaches kindergarten at Butler Elementary School in Savannah.

“It’s fun. It brings out the inner you,” Wright said. “They are learning at the same time, is a big part of it. Because they are so young, it’s hard to keep their attention. So when you keep it fun, it keeps them there.”

A homegrown connection to Butler Elementary

Whether it’s wearing silly ears or keeping class fun while learning, Wright feels right at home in the classroom.

“I grew up right here in Cloverdale. I also attended Butler,” Wright said. “It’s awesome. It’s rewarding. It’s like being here all over again.”

Focused on reading

Wright said her number one goal is getting her children to read.

“Seeing them grow, coming in, maybe not even knowing their alphabet, to later being able to pronounce sounds and decode words, to be able to read, decodable texts,” Wright said. “It’s an awesome, rewarding experience.”
