Volunteers to collect litter along U.S. 278 both directions on Monday

BLUFFTON, Sc. (WTOC) - The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office warned drivers on U.S. 278 that Belfair Clean & Green Brigade Adopt-A-Highway volunteers will be collecting litter on Monday morning.

They said it will be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. along the major highway in both directions between Simmonsville Road and Belfair Oaks Boulevard.

“Volunteers will be working close to the roadway where there is no sidewalk access. They will be wearing high-visibility orange safety vests and will take every precaution to work safely,” they wrote.

Motorists are encouraged to:

• Slow down when approaching the work area.
• Stay alert for volunteers along the shoulder.
• Move over when it is safe to do so, if possible.
• Help keep everyone safe by avoiding distractions while driving.
