UPDATE: Motorcycle chase ends in crash in Chatham Co.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - {UPDATE 8/2/26} One person was taken to the hospital after a motorcycle chase in Chatham County.

Georgia State Patrol says just before 9 p.m. Saturday, Troopers were advised to be on the lookout for a black motorcycle with no tag that fled from local law enforcement in Savannah.

GSP says a Trooper saw the motorcycle traveling on Middleground Road, near Tibet Avenue, and attempted to make a stop, but the driver took off. A second Trooper, traveling south on GA-204, saw the motorcyclist fail to obey a red traffic signal and attempted to make a stop, but the motorcyclist refused to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

Officials say the chase ended when the motorcyclist attempted to go through slowing traffic on GA-204, at the intersection of I-95, and collided with the rear of an SUV, causing the motorcycle to slide several feet and strike another vehicle.

GSP says the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital for minor visible injuries. No other injuries were reported.

{ORIGINAL STORY 8/1/26} According to 511GA, a large police presence was seen on Highway 204 near Gateway Boulevard.

The camera available at Highway 204 and Gateway Blvd. show traffic being diverted away from the far right lane on 204.

The camera at I-95 and 204 showed flashing lights on 204 as well.
