UPDATE: City of Pooler announces bacteriological test results following boil water advisory

POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE as of 8/17/25 at 8:15 p.m.]: The city of Pooler confirmed Sunday night that the water in their system is safe.

Pooler officials said they completed their bacteriological tests and said results showed no presence of coliform bacteria.

Pooler residents are able to resume normal water use, per the City of Pooler.

[ORIGINAL STORY]: Sunday morning, the City of Savannah fully lifted the boil water advisory that was first issued Friday evening.

Pooler Mayor Karen Williams shared a Facebook update on Pooler’s boil water advisory.

“It is the City of Pooler’s responsibility to test and confirm water safety within our own distribution system for the health and well-being of our residents,” wrote Mayor Karen Williams in a social media post.

Mayor William’s said the City of Savannah’s tests confirmed the tests conducted in their system showed no presence of coliform bacteria. She said it was important to note that there were no tests conducted by Savannah in Pooler’s distribution system.

The mayor says they expect the results of Pooler’s bacteriological testing around 8 p.m. Sunday evening.

“Given the extended boil water advisory (over 36 hours), and the fact that the water kept flowing through our system, the City of Pooler believes that it is prudent to confirm the water quality in OUR system and, therefore, we are taking this additional step to verify the safety of water in OUR distribution system,” wrote Mayor Williams.
