UPDATE: 7 shot at Coligny Beach on Hilton Head during July 4 fight

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, Sc. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 7/5/26 10:03 A.M.] Seven people were shot Saturday night at Coligny Beach after a fight broke out between two groups in the public beach access area, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office communications center received multiple calls reporting gunshots near Coligny Beach shortly after 8:20 p.m. Deputies already working in the area responded as additional information came in.
What investigators know
Authorities said the incident appears to have started as a fight between two groups. At some point during the argument, shots were fired.
All seven victims suffered what appear to be non-fatal gunshot wounds and received medical attention at local hospitals.
According to the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, four people have been arrested. Multiple guns were also recovered from the scene.

- Jayden Hawes, 18: Attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and aggravated breach of peace.
- Marcello Royal, 17: Attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, unlawful possession of a weapon, and aggravated breach of peace.
- Quazeir Davis, 17: Attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, unlawful possession of a weapon, and aggravated breach of peace.
- Christopher Capers, 17: Accessory after the fact.
The circumstances that led to the shooting remain under investigation.
