Traffic Alert: Highway 21 southbound lanes closed in Screven County due to deadly crash

SCREVEN COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Drivers are being urged to avoid a major highway in Screven County following a motor vehicle crash.

According to the Screven County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews are on the scene of a crash on Highway 21 near the intersection of Evans Lane. We reached out to the sheriff’s office who told us one person has died.

As of Friday, the southbound lanes of Highway 21 are completely closed to traffic. Officials have not given an estimated time for when the roadway will reopen.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, use caution, and seek alternate routes to allow emergency personnel room to work safely.
