THE LIST: SC250 & Independence Day celebrations throughout the Lowcountry

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — As one of the 13 original colonies, South Carolina and its residents have the privilege of celebrating the state’s 250th birthday right alongside the United States of America.

Because of this, organizations and municipalities throughout the Lowcountry have events planned to make sure the locals get every chance to commemorate the occasion in style.

New events will be added as they come in.

Berkeley County Library System Events

  • July 4, 6 p.m. — Sharing the Declaration of Independence. Historian Jeff Neale reads the Declaration of Independence to launch the Town of Moncks Corner’s Independence Day Festival at Moncks Corner Regional Recreation Complex Events Field.

July 4 — Independence Day Celebration

Join the Georgetown County community on the lawn of the Kaminski House for a patriotic evening of music and community to celebrate Independence Day. Special activities and games for kids in the adjacent Rainey Park will also be available. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and family for this free community concert.

Other events happening July 4, 2026, include the Opening of the 1976 Georgetown Time Capsule, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Georgetown County Courthouse at 129 Screven Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.

July 4, 9:30 p.m. — Annual Fireworks Display

The 2026 annual fireworks display over Georgetown will take place July 4 at about 9:30 p.m. Directed by the Georgetown City Fire Department, fireworks will be set off at Morgan Park and can be seen from the Harborwalk boardwalk and other areas on the water. Morgan Park will close Friday night at 9 p.m. Parts of Greenwich Drive and East Bay Street leading up to Morgan Park will be closed Saturday, July 4 around 9 a.m. Signs will be posted when this is in effect. Morgan Park will remain closed until the morning of July 5 and signs will remain in place until it is reopened.
