Surveillance video captures suspects breaking into Pembroke woman’s car

PEMBROKE, Ga. (WTOC) - Surveillance video shows suspects breaking into Camrey Alderman’s car in Pembroke during the early morning hours of May 25.
Alderman says the suspects did not take anything from her vehicle. She says she left her car unlocked after stepping outside around midnight to grab something from her car and then went to bed.
“And when I checked the camera it was the exact same time that I turned the light off,” Alderman said.
Alderman was not the only person whose car was broken into that morning. The Pembroke Police Department says there were three vehicle break-ins that happened minutes apart on the north side of the city. One happened at Alderman’s home, another at Northwood Apartments, and a third on Cameron Court.
A gun was stolen from a vehicle on Cameron Court, according to Pembroke Police.
“I know someone who lives about 5 minutes away, she did say her car got broken into and her gun got stolen out of it,” Alderman said.
Sergeant Melissa Buttimer is urging residents to take precautions, including locking their vehicles.
“If the cars are locked, a lot of people will leave them alone and move on,” Buttimer said.
She also recommends storing firearms and other valuables inside the home and staying connected with neighbors.
Alderman says she wants those responsible held accountable.
“You’re not just breaking into people’s vehicles and their personal belongings; you’re also interfering with their safety and the trust they’ve built within their community,” Alderman said.
