Statesboro seeks public input in search for next police chief

STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - The City of Statesboro is asking community members to weigh in as it begins the search for its next police chief.
The city will host a public input town hall meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, June 15, in the Council Chambers at Statesboro City Hall, located at 50 E. Main St.
The meeting follows the recent announcement that Statesboro Police Chief Mike Broadhead will retire July 1 after nine years with the department and more than 40 years in law enforcement.
The city is working with Developmental Associates, the same executive search firm used to hire Broadhead in 2017.
During the town hall, Janice Allen Jackson, senior consultant for Developmental Associates, will explain the nationwide search process and how community feedback will help shape the candidate profile for the next chief.
Attendees will be asked to share feedback on the priorities, leadership traits and values they want to see in Statesboro’s next law enforcement leader.
City officials say the feedback will be used by Developmental Associates and city leadership to evaluate applicants and guide the selection process.
