St. Joseph’s/Candler offering mobile mammograms in Bluffton on July 30

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Women in the South Carolina Lowcountry will have another opportunity to receive breast cancer screenings when St. Joseph’s/Candler’s Mobile Mammography Unit visits the health system’s Bluffton campus later this month.
The mobile unit will be at the St. Joseph’s/Candler Bluffton Campus on Thursday, July 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Screenings are available for women age 40 and older, as well as baseline mammograms for women ages 35 to 39, depending on insurance eligibility.
According to the American Cancer Society’s 2024-25 Breast Cancer Facts & Figures, about 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during their lifetime, while 1 in 43 will die from the disease. Health experts say regular mammograms play a critical role in detecting breast cancer early, when treatment is often most effective.

St. Joseph’s/Candler says its Mobile Mammography Unit has provided digital breast cancer screenings throughout Southeast Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry for nearly two decades, helping improve access to early detection services.
Patients should have their insurance information available when scheduling an appointment. Those who are uninsured or underinsured and cannot afford a mammogram may qualify for financial assistance through the health system’s Mammography Fund.
For more information about financial assistance, call 912-819-7055.
Appointments are required.
