SSU president rallies Jenkins High students for life after graduation

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Homecoming festivities were underway at Herschel V. Jenkins High School this week, but the celebration did not stop students from focusing on college preparation and life after graduation.

Savannah State University President Dr. Jermaine Whirl visited the school to introduce his admissions staff to juniors and seniors and discuss the opportunities available at the university.

Jenkins High Principal Marlon Worrill emphasized the importance of partnering with SSU to guide students as they transition into adulthood.

“We want to make sure that the students who launch from Jenkins High School land productively,” Worrill said. “And with Savannah State and the many opportunities that they afford students, it just makes sense for us to build that pipeline.”

Following an energizing performance by the Jenkins High band ensemble, speakers urged students to assess their personal goals, talents, and future ambitions, highlighting the resources available to help them succeed.
