SPD: Two men dead after standoff situation near East Broad, Anderson Streets

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - [UPDATE 8/27/26 - 6:52 p.m.] Savannah Police Chief Lenny Gunther has confirmed two men are dead. The case is being investigated as a suspected murder-suicide.

[ORIGINAL STORY] There is currently a large police presence in the area of East Broad and Anderson Street. We spoke with Savannah Police on the scene who told us there is one male victim and one suspect.

We reached out to Chatham EMS who told WTOC at least one person was taken to the hospital.
WTOC crews on the scene saw Savannah Police officers, Georgia State Patrol, Savannah Fire and the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office.

On the scene Chatham County Sheriff Coleman told us that as of 5:30 p.m. Thursday evening there is someone barricaded inside of a home in the area.
“Either you are going to come out or we are going to get your behind out of the house,” said Sheriff Coleman. “We have a SWAT team on scene, we have an emergency response team on scene. They’re highly trained for situations like this. They’re prepared for situations like this. And so they will handle the situation.”
