Mayor responds

Pooler Mayor Karen Williams said the incident involved gunshots fired from multiple firearms.

“The incident that occurred on October 11th in the 200 block of Hunter’s Ridge Subdivision, involving gunshots fired from multiple firearms, is deeply concerning and completely unacceptable,” Williams said.

“Discharging firearms within the city limits is illegal and, especially in a residential neighborhood, is reckless, irresponsible, and places innocent lives at risk,” Williams said. “This type of behavior has no place in our community and will not be tolerated.”

Williams said the incident remains under active investigation.

“Out of respect for the investigative process and the need to protect its integrity, I cannot and will not divulge information or comment on specific details related to this incident,” Williams said. “I ask the public to allow law enforcement the time and opportunity to conduct a thorough investigation.”

Williams asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Pooler Police Department.
