Sen. Darline Graham calls on Annie Andrews to release tax returns in tight SC Senate race

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - South Carolina’s U.S. Senate race grew increasingly contentious Thursday as Republican Sen. Darline Graham held a news conference challenging her Democratic opponent, Dr. Annie Andrews, to release her tax returns.
The exchange came one day after President Donald Trump campaigned for Graham in the Upstate.
During Thursday’s news conference, Graham took aim at Andrews, accusing her of shifting positions on gun policy and transgender athletes — echoing statements made by Trump at Wednesday’s rally.
Graham called on Andrews to disclose financial records, pledging to follow suit.
“I’m calling on Annie Andrews to publish her tax returns, and I will do the same,” Graham said. “I have nothing to hide - and my assets, or lack thereof, prove it. Voters deserve to know who pays for Annie Andrews.”
Addressing the state of the race, Graham pointed to recent polling indicating a tight contest.
“Well, you know I’ve seen the polls; it is close,” Graham said. “I’m not taking anything for granted. That’s why I’m working so hard every day. I’m on the campaign trail meeting the voters and working really hard because, like I said, I’m not going to take this for granted. I’m going to run every day like I’m behind.”
The race enters its homestretch with early voting underway and national political figures weighing in on a contest that could influence the balance of power in Washington.
