SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A new stage drama in Savannah will examine the impact of gun violence and the resilience of young people working to create change.

The City of Savannah’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement, through its new Young Artists of Savannah United program, will present “SUPERHERO” on Friday, July 31, at 7 p.m.

The original play follows Xavier Griffin, a young boy struggling with the loss of his brother, Marquis, to gun violence. Instead of allowing the tragedy to define his future, Xavier turns his grief into purpose and becomes a source of hope and strength in his community.

The production also explores how families quietly carry the weight of loss and what it means to heal at home.

The performance is part of ONSE’s ongoing efforts to promote youth empowerment, violence prevention and community engagement through the arts.

Community members, families, educators, youth advocates and supporters of the arts are invited to attend.

The performance will be held at the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center, located at 201 Montgomery Street in Savannah.
