SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Branch of the NAACP is inviting parents, students and community members to hear directly from Savannah/Chatham County Public School System Superintendent Dr. S. Denise Watts during a public meeting later this month.

The meeting is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, at 4 p.m. at Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1110 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Savannah.

During the meeting, Dr. Watts is expected to outline the school district’s plans for the 2026-27 school year, including updates on student attendance, discipline, parental engagement, School Councils and district initiatives designed to support those areas.

Organizers say there will also be an opportunity for Dr. Watts to answer questions from Savannah Branch NAACP members and the community, time permitting.

The meeting is free and open to the public and is intended to give parents, students and residents an opportunity to learn more about the district’s priorities for the upcoming school year.
