Savannah father indicted for murder after child dies from blunt force head trauma

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A grand jury indicted 32-year-old Christopher Solomon Calhoun last week on felony murder, four counts of aggravated battery-family violence and two counts of cruelty to children in the first degree for the death of his child.

According to the indictment, Calhoun is accused of causing the death of 10-week-old Cain Brown, also known as Cain Cochran, on April 11, 2025, while in the commission of aggravated assault.

The indictment states that Calhoun caused blunt impact head trauma to the boy.

The indictment alleges Calhoun knowingly made an assault upon Cain by seriously disfiguring his skull with an unknown object on or near April 11, 2025.

The indictment states the object, when used offensively against a person, resulted in serious bodily injury. The indictment identifies the victim as the child of the accused.

Calhoun is also accused of maliciously causing the baby boy’s younger sister excessive physical and mental pain the same day with an unknown object.

According to the indictment, Calhoun caused harm in a manner that led to swelling of her face, eyes and head, putting her in critical condition.

The indictment alleges Calhoun also seriously injured her by disfiguring her skull.

He will plead guilty or not guilty to these charges in an arraignment in August.

He was also recently going through child support issues with a different woman involving a female child born in 2025.

He wrote a letter to the court saying he does not know who the mother of this child is, or if the child is his biologically. He referenced being incarcerated currently with no income.

He remains behind bars on no bond. He will be back in court in late August.
