Savannah congregations join nationwide observance of ringing bells for 250th Independence Day

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A sound 250 years in the making rang out over Savannah Saturday, congregations and civic institutions joined a nationwide observance ringing their bells for 10 minutes at noon.
Participating locations were invited by the Savannah 250th Declaration of Independence Commission to ring their bells, recalling the historic moment on July 4, 1776, when the Declaration of Independence was adopted.
Among the participating congregations is Lutheran Church of the Ascension, 120 Bull Street on Wright Square, where the church’s historic bell system will sound as part of the observance.
