Savannah church brings Broadway favorites to Sunday worship

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Savannah church is bringing Broadway music and messages of faith together for a special worship series this October.
Asbury Memorial Church will host its annual “God on Broadway” series every Sunday in October. Each service will combine scripture, sermons and liturgy with themes and music from a popular Broadway production.
The 2026 lineup includes:
- Oct. 4: “Waitress”
- Oct. 11: “Guys and Dolls”
- Oct. 18: “The Sound of Music”
- Oct. 25: “The Neil Diamond Musical: A Beautiful Noise”
The Asbury Choir, under the direction of Minister of Music Ray Ellis, will perform selections from each production that connect with the scripture chosen for that Sunday.
Senior Pastor Rev. Billy Hester will deliver sermons inspired by the biblical texts and storylines of the featured shows.
“These beloved Broadway songs have the power to tell stories about hope, love, struggle and redemption, and when we pair them with the message of faith, something truly special happens,” Hester said.
Services begin at 11 a.m. at Asbury Memorial Church, located at 1008 E. Henry Street in Savannah.
The series is free and open to the public. More information and segments from previous services are available here.
