Pooler adopts impact fees to help cover costs of future growth

POOLER, Ga. (WTOC) - Pooler City Council has adopted an impact fee ordinance aimed at having future development pay a proportional share of the public facilities and services needed to support growth.
The city adopted the ordinance Oct. 19, following its approval of an impact fee study in May 2025.

According to the city, the study was intended to evaluate the feasibility of impact fees, analyze how future development would affect public facilities and services, and calculate fees based on those findings.
The city says the ordinance’s goal is to promote orderly growth while sharing the cost of needed facilities and services proportionally with that development.
According to the release, the Georgia Development Impact Fee Act requires a reasonable relationship between the fees charged and the specific capital improvements to be constructed.
