APPLING COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - One person is dead after being ejected during a rollover crash Thursday on Highway 341, according to the Appling County Sheriff Mark Melton.

The two-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of State Route 27 and Graham Methodist Church Road. Deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Office responded and confirmed a fatality before requesting assistance from GSP.

Troopers said a Chevrolet Trailblazer was stopped at the intersection and failed to yield to a westbound Chevrolet Equinox traveling on State Route 27.

The collision caused the Equinox to overturn multiple times, ejecting an unrestrained rear-seat passenger. The vehicle came to rest on top of the passenger, who died at the scene.

The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to investigate.

State Route 27 was closed for about two hours while crews worked the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
