Officials, organizations warn of increase in valet-parked vehicle break-ins

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The Savannah Downtown Business Association is warning drivers about an uptick in crime involving cars parked by valets.
The association says suspects have been checking for unlocked doors and sometimes forcing their way in.
In one case, two suspects were seen repositioning security cameras before trying to get into cars.
Savannah Police Sergeant Joshua Flynn says this time of year, robbery is up nationwide and that anyone parking their car in or around downtown needs to be extra mindful of locking their doors.
The Downtown Business Association is asking hotels and valet operators to keep a watchful eye and report suspicious activity.
