New traffic signal to go live on US 80 in Bulloch County

by Tyler Walls

STATESBORO, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced that a new traffic signal will be activated on US Route 80 in Bulloch County on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

The new signal is located at the intersection of US 80 and Akins Pond Road/Colfax Road, which is about one mile north of the US 25/Veterans Memorial Parkway intersection.

Drivers should expect crews to be working in the area this week to install the traffic signals and restripe the intersection. Message boards are already in place to alert motorists of the upcoming change.

Local law enforcement will oversee traffic control during the activation on Wednesday to ensure driver safety.

GDOT officials said the signal is not expected to be active for the morning commute but should be fully functional by early afternoon, weather permitting.

Drivers are urged to use extra caution, reduce their speed, and prepare for delays as motorists adjust to the new traffic pattern.

For real-time traffic updates and work zone status, drivers can call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
