Nancy Mace passes on Senate bid, cites ‘unfinished business’

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WTOC) - U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace has announced she will not run for the U.S. Senate GOP nomination following the death of Sen. Lindsey Graham.

“I’m not running for the Senate - because I have some unfinished business. Since I stood on that House floor, I’ve been fighting for every woman and girl who was told to stay silent. I want justice - and that day is coming,” Mace said in a statement.

The Lowcountry congresswoman had previously run in the GOP gubernatorial race before conceding and endorsing Alan Wilson.

The candidate filing period for the GOP nomination runs July 21 through July 28, with the special Republican primary scheduled for August 11. To date, Darline Graham, Ralph Norman, Duke Buckner, Mark Lynch and Russell Fry have all announced their candidacy.
