Motorcyclist hospitalized after crash on Jimmy Deloach Parkway in Bloomingdale

CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Lanes of Jimmy Deloach Parkway in Bloomingdale were temporarily closed Friday morning after a crash.

Georgia State Patrol details crash

A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries Friday morning after a Mack dump truck failed to yield at the intersection of an unnamed dirt road and Jimmy DeLoach Parkway (GA-17) in Chatham County, according to Georgia State Patrol.

Law enforcement responded to the two-vehicle crash at 8:41 a.m. on July 10.

What happened

The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of the Mack dump truck was attempting to make a left turn from the dirt road onto GA-17 when he failed to yield the right of way to a motorcycle traveling south in the left lane.

GSP said the motorcycle hit the left side of the dump truck and came to a final rest in the roadway. The dump truck came to a controlled rest in the center of the intersection. Law enforcement said both vehicles sustained disabling damage from the collision.

Injuries and response

The motorcycle driver sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash. The driver of the Mack dump truck reported minor injuries. GSP said both individuals were transported from the scene by ambulance.

The Troop F Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team responded to the scene to assist with the investigation. Charges are pending further investigation.
