More than 61,000 South Carolina voters cast early ballots in GOP Senate primary

SOUTH CAROLINA. (WTOC) - More than 61,000 South Carolina voters cast ballots during three days of early voting for the U.S. Senate special Republican primary.

The South Carolina State Election Commission reported 19,906 ballots were cast statewide Friday, Aug. 7. That brought total early voting turnout from Aug. 5 through Aug. 7 to 61,775 voters.

Greenville County recorded the highest turnout Friday with 2,024 ballots cast. Horry County followed with 1,976 ballots, while Lexington County reported 1,722 and Spartanburg County recorded 1,099.

Friday’s top counties by ballots cast were:

• Greenville County: 2,024
• Horry County: 1,976
• Lexington County: 1,722
• Spartanburg County: 1,099
