Minor sewer spill reported near Lake Mayer Park

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Chatham County officials are responding to a minor sewer spill near Lake Mayer Park after a sewer pipe was damaged during mowing operations Friday.
According to Chatham County, the spill occurred near the southeastern corner of Lake Mayer Park at Montgomery Crossroads.
Officials estimate approximately 3,800 gallons of sewage entered the adjacent stormwater system after the pipe was damaged.
County crews have posted warning signs in the affected area and applied lime to help neutralize the impacted soil.
Officials did not say whether the spill reached the lake or if any additional cleanup measures are planned.
Residents are encouraged to use caution around the affected area while cleanup efforts continue.
