Man who removed his own eyes faces jury in Bulloch County

BULLOCH COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - A Bulloch County man who removed both of his eyeballs and bit off a portion of his tongue after his arrest is on trial for murder.

Robert Brandon Keller is accused of killing Bruce Dupree in 2024. Keller pleaded not guilty but has been indicted on 10 charges, including malice murder, felony murder and armed robbery.

In October 2024, Bulloch County deputies responded to reports of a person lying on Interstate 16. Dupree died at the scene with what the state described as brutal stab wounds.

A judge ruled in February that Keller is competent to stand trial after he removed both of his eyeballs and bit off a portion of his tongue.
