SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - Families are invited to celebrate the opening of a new StoryWalk® at Bowles C. Ford Park during a free community event later this month.

Hosted by Live Oak Public Library, the celebration will take place Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to noon at the park on Cloverdale Drive in Savannah.

A StoryWalk combines reading with outdoor activity by placing the pages of a children’s book along a walking path, encouraging visitors to enjoy a story while exploring the park. The permanent installation was made possible through underwriting by the City of Savannah ACTion Committee.

The celebration will include the launch of the new StoryWalk, a reading of “The Soil in Jackie’s Garden” by Peggy Thomas, creative arts activities, music and games for families.

Library officials say new stories will be added to the StoryWalk throughout the year, giving families a new reason to visit each season.
