Lady’s Island-St. Helena Fire District accepting fire chief applications

LADY’S ISLAND, S.C. (WTOC) - The Lady’s Island-St. Helena Fire District is searching for its next fire chief.

According to the district, the position comes with a starting salary of $125,000, based on qualifications and experience. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on June 30.

The fire chief will oversee all district operations, including fire suppression, emergency medical response, training, inspections, investigations and community outreach. The role also includes supervising personnel, approving policies and procedures, developing budgets and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

District leaders say candidates must have at least 15 years of fire service experience, including five years in a leadership role at the rank of battalion chief or higher.

Applicants must also hold Fire Officer I and II certifications through IFSAC or ProBoard and complete NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300 and 400 training requirements.
