Jasper County Fire Rescue to install free smoke alarms in Hardeeville neighborhoods

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — Jasper County Fire Rescue and the City of Hardeeville are partnering Friday to install free smoke alarms in local homes.

The installation blitz begins at 9 a.m. Friday, with Saturday serving as the rain date.

Crews will go door to door in the Blue Heron, Sandpiper and Marsh Hen areas, starting at the outer ends of designated roads and working toward Marsh Hen Drive. Firefighters will install the alarms and review home fire safety with residents.

A command post will be set up at the intersection of Spartina Drive and Marsh Hen Drive.

The smoke alarms are provided by the South Carolina State Fire Marshal’s Office and the American Red Cross.
