Hopkins and 48th Streets closed through Oct 12 after water main break

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A water main break that occurred Monday morning has prompted the closure of northbound and southbound traffic on Hopkins St. and 48th St. through Monday, Oct. 12, 2026.
City of Savannah officials said the break was quickly repaired, but additional road fixtures and construction measures are still needed.
Motorists are encouraged to utilize alternate routes such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.
The City of Savannah said they appreciates patience and understanding during all construction projects aimed at improving safety and sustainability of the city. Officials continue to monitor conditions and will provide updates as needed.
