Hardeeville man arrested on Georgia drug warrant

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. (WTOC) - Hardeeville Police Department detectives arrested a Hardeeville man on Aug. 25 on an active warrant from Chatham County, Georgia, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

Kevin Maurice Chaplin, also known as “Jabo,” was arrested during an investigation into a suspected drug overdose and the distribution of illegal drugs and narcotics at 701 Main Street in Hardeeville, according to police. The investigation began in August 2026.

Detectives also searched an uninhabitable structure where Chaplin was suspected of residing, police said.

Chaplin was transported to the Jasper County Detention Center.

Chaplin, 53, of Hardeeville, was charged with:

  • Fugitive from justice
  • Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
