Group opposing Project Camellia to host free community event in Guyton

GUYTON, Ga. (WTOC) - Protect Effingham Alliance, a local advocacy group opposing the proposed Project Camellia data center, will host a free community event Saturday in Guyton.
The Community Day Against Data Centers will feature children’s activities, crafts, snacks, expert question-and-answer tables and project updates. Attendees can also pick up “No Data Centers” signs and learn how to get involved.
The volunteer-run nonprofit says it formed after the project’s July announcement. Its leaders have raised concerns about electricity demand, proximity to neighborhoods and schools, and community input in development decisions.
Residents of Effingham, Chatham and surrounding counties are welcome.
