Grand jury indicts man on burglary and child molestation charges

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - A Chatham County grand jury has indicted a Savannah man on charges of first-degree burglary and child molestation in connection with an incident that investigators say happened in April.
According to the indictment returned on July 15, Carlos Ortiz, also known as “Rico Ricon,” is charged with first-degree burglary and child molestation.
Court documents allege that on April 24, 2026, Ortiz unlawfully entered a home in the 4000 block of Ogeechee Road with the intent to commit child molestation.
The indictment also alleges Ortiz committed an immoral or indecent act involving a child under the age of 16 with the intent to arouse or satisfy sexual desires.
WTOC is not identifying the alleged victim because they are a minor.
An indictment is a formal accusation and is not evidence of guilt. Ortiz is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
