Give old shoes new Life at Tanger Outlets Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, Ga. (WTOC) - Your old sneakers could soon find new life under someone else’s feet.

Tanger Outlets Hilton Head is launching its “Back to Play” sneaker recycling initiative Saturday, Sept. 26, in partnership with sustainable footwear recycling company Sneaker Impact.

Community members can donate footwear of any type, size or condition. The collected shoes will be recycled into raw materials used to create soft-play surfaces in communities, keeping shoe waste out of landfills.

The initiative follows Tanger’s Earth Day recycling drive in April. Tanger says that campaign collected more than 3,800 pairs of shoes weighing approximately 2.75 tons at its shopping centers nationwide.

The free recycling event is open to the public at Tanger Hilton Head 1 at The Green, located at 1256 Fording Island Road in Bluffton.
